Rajaji National Park
Rajaji National Park, located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, is a renowned wildlife reserve spread across the districts of Haridwar, Dehradun, and Pauri Garhwal. Covering an area of over 820 square kilometers, it was established in 1983 by merging three sanctuaries: Rajaji, Motichur, and Chilla. The park is named after C. Rajagopalachari, the last Governor-General of independent India.
Rajaji National Park is known for its rich biodiversity and is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers. It is home to a wide variety of fauna including elephants, tigers, leopards, sloth bears, deer species like sambar and chital, and over 300 bird species, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. The landscape is diverse, ranging from dense forests and grasslands to river valleys and foothills of the Shivalik range, part of the lower Himalayas.
Arrival at Haridwar / Rishikesh / Dehradun (nearest cities). Transfer to your resort/hotel near Chilla Range (most popular safari zone). After lunch, enjoy your first jungle safari in Chilla – known for elephants, deer, leopards, and diverse birdlife. Return by evening, enjoy a bonfire or nature walk at the resort. Overnight stay at a wildlife resort or eco-lodge.
Early morning second safari in a different zone like Motichur Range – offers deep forest trails and higher chances of spotting big cats. Return for breakfast and rest. Afternoon options: Visit Ganga River ghats in Haridwar Enjoy a short trek or birdwatching session Optional visit to Rajaji Interpretation Center to learn about park history and biodiversity. Overnight stay in the park region.
Optional early morning third safari (if staying longer or choosing a flexible package). After breakfast, check out and depart for your onward journey via Haridwar/Rishikesh/Dehradun.
