The Gaumukh Tapovan Trek is a high-altitude adventure in Uttarakhand that takes you to the source of the sacred River Ganga – Gaumukh – and the stunning alpine meadow of Tapovan, nestled at the base of Mt. Shivling. Starting from Gangotri, this trek combines natural beauty, spiritual significance, and thrilling terrain, making it a favorite among seasoned trekkers and pilgrims alike.
The trail winds through the Gangotri National Park, offering panoramic views of towering Himalayan peaks like Bhagirathi I, II & III, Shivling, and Meru, along with vast glaciers, waterfalls, and serene meadows. As you trek alongside the Bhagirathi River, you witness changing landscapes – from pine forests to moraine paths and icy streams. Tapovan itself is a high-altitude grassland known for its peaceful surroundings, sadhus in meditation, and incredible mountain views.
