Overview

Nanda Devi National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most pristine and picturesque wilderness areas in India, nestled in the high Himalayan ranges of Uttarakhand. Centered around Nanda Devi Peak (7,816 meters) — India’s second-highest mountain — the park offers dramatic landscapes of alpine meadows, steep gorges, and snow-capped peaks. Home to rare flora and fauna like the snow leopard, Himalayan musk deer, and blue sheep, it remains a vital conservation zone within the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve. The park is also culturally significant, revered in local mythology and history. Trekking into the core zone is restricted to preserve its delicate ecosystem, but the surrounding Valley of Flowers, Joshimath, and Dhak Village offer accessible eco-tours and trekking routes with breathtaking views. Nanda Devi National Park is a haven for serious trekkers, nature enthusiasts, and spiritual seekers looking to witness one of the last untouched Himalayan wildernesses.
