Lakshman Jhula in Rishikesh is an iconic suspension bridge that spans the Ganges River, connecting the town of Tapovan with the landmark temples and ashrams of the Swarg Ashram area. Built in 1929, this pedestrian bridge is named after Lord Lakshman, the younger brother of Lord Rama in Hindu mythology.
The bridge holds immense spiritual and cultural significance, drawing pilgrims, tourists, and devotees from all over the world. It is believed that Lord Lakshman crossed the Ganges River at this spot using a jute rope bridge, hence the name and the construction of this modern suspension bridge in its place.
